The nursery show garden provides a beautiful backdrop to our plant sales area, greenhouses, garden shop, gift shop and tea room. You can stroll around the pool and through the garden area at any time of the year and there will always be something of interest for you to see whatever the season. We are sure you will be inspired by some wonderful plant partnerships that may even give you a few ideas for your own garden. In late winter and early spring you will discover fine displays of our world-famous Helleborus Ashwood Garden Hybrids and carpets of snowdrops, cyclamen, narcissi, hepaticas and winter heathers. We feel sure you will also be impressed by the range of trees, shrubs and conifers for stem, bark and foliage effect as well as a good selection of witch hazels and other winter flowering shrubs, many of which are delightfully fragrant. In late spring the show garden definitely has the ‘wow factor’ with an abundance of spring-flowering trees and shrubs, including Japanese azaleas, rhododendrons and a spectacular free-standing wisteria. All are underplanted with drifts of primulas, pulmonarias, fritillaries, erythroniums and alliiums while anemones and tulips of every kind provide bursts of vibrant colour. Summer brings its own magic as the hydrangeas and clematis come into bloom and daphnes produce a second flush of their fragrant flowers while, throughout the garden, an interesting collection of annuals and perennials put on a colourful show. Planted pots and vases, imaginatively planted, enhance the summer scene. During autumn the garden assumes fiery hues, there are fruits and berries in abundance and our speciality salvias come into their own, flowering until the first frost. Grasses sparkle in the autumn sunshine, asters billow in the breeze and carpets of cyclamen, autumn crocus and vivid blue gentians complete the picture.
