A named selection of this most desirable winter flowering daphne that is prized for its profusion of beautiful, pale purplish pink flowers of exquisite fragrance, borne from February to April. It is reliably hardy in all but the most severe winters and it retains its foliage well in winter. It makes a tall slender plant that can be lightly pruned to shape in late spring and staked as it matures. A sheltered position is essential with protection from wind and hot sun. Give it a good deep, moist but free-draining soil and low nutrient levels. Height: 5ft (150cm)

This first-rate daphne is one of the most reliably hardy clones of Daphne odora. The evergreen leaves have creamy white margins and is very attractive. Its sweetly scented flowers, produced in March, are rose purple in bud opening to white. Open bushy habit as broad as it is high. An excellent performer and an attractive evergreen foliage subject for the winter garden. Clusters of soft yellowish-green flowers, of a delicate fragrance, produced in April and May, displayed against glossy dark green leaves. Bushy habit, slightly wider than it is high. Happy in light shade or sun, but it is best shaded from very hot sun. Needs a humus-rich soil that does dry out in summer. Height: 3ft (90cm)

One of the most reliable and easy of all daphnes, this produces a profusion of large flowers in late spring, deep rosy purple in bud opening to palest lilac, and with a distinctive sweet fragrance. Glossy, dark green leathery foliage that is evergreen. Sturdy, dense dome-shaped habit. Needs light shade and a humus-rich soil that is not too dry in summer. Height: 2ft (60cm)
